Coach Steve, a Rochester, NY native, brings a wealth of experience both on and off the volleyball court. Steve combines his extensive playing background with a passion for mentoring young athletes. His volleyball journey spans across multiple continents, starting with his time at Pace Bootlegger Volleyball Club during high school and continuing through Vassar College, where he transferred from NYU. His commitment to the sport is reflected in his dedication to finding competitive Men’s teams wherever he studied, including stints in Austria and Switzerland, further broadening his international playing experience.
Steve’s coaching expertise extends beyond his club involvement in the U.S., having gained valuable experience coaching in France and Switzerland. His time at Vassar College, where he was a team captain and earned MVP honors, is a standout highlight of his playing career. Notably, Steve remains in the Vassar College record books for his top-ten rankings in both Kills per Set and Digs per Set. As a player, he also helped Pace’s Men’s AA team secure a Gold medal at Nationals. This combination of accolades and experience allows Steve to bring a deep understanding of the game to his coaching role.
Outside of volleyball, Steve is a physicist at Yale University, a profession that reflects his analytical mindset and approach to coaching. His hobbies include outdoor activities such as snowboarding and foraging, alongside a love for DIY projects and cooking for large groups of family and friends. Steve’s diverse interests and disciplined work ethic, both as a coach and a professional, make him a well-rounded mentor who strives to inspire his players on and off the court.
