Coach James is a seasoned volleyball coach and educator from Yonkers, NY. He began his volleyball journey at Iona Prep in high school, then continued as a club player at Tulane University. Since 2017, he has been coaching at Iona Prep, where he serves as the Boys Varsity Head Coach and was integral in founding the JV team in 2022. Additionally, James has been a key figure in Legacy Volleyball Club, coaching the Boys teams and serving as the Boys Director from 2022 to 2024.

Under his leadership, Iona Prep’s volleyball program has flourished, securing four consecutive NYC Catholic Championships from 2021 to 2024, along with the inaugural NY Intersectional Catholic Championship in 2024. At Legacy VBC, he guided the Boys 16U team to a GEVA Regional Runners-up finish in the 2022-23 season. James’s coaching is characterized by an attention to detail in technique and a strategic, long-term approach to player and team development. His favorite drill, Speedball, reflects his focus on dynamic play, while his proudest moments include winning championships and seeing his first two committed athletes from his high school program.

Beyond volleyball, James serves as the Math Department Chairperson at Iona Prep and is a passionate sports fan, particularly of Liverpool FC and the NY Jets. He enjoys traveling, having visited Croatia and Poland to witness the Men’s Volleyball Nations League finals. James is excited to join the NEVBC community and looks forward to contributing to the club’s professional and athlete-focused culture.
