Henryk brings a lifelong commitment to education to our club. Always an athlete (high school football, soccer, BMX freestyle, and squash), he fell in love with volleyball during the 1984 Olympics, but unfortunately was unable to pursue his passion as there were no boys volleyball programs in the area. However, upon attending Binghamton University, he quickly got involved in volleyball, managing the women’s DIII program, running the intramural program, and becoming a practice player for the university men’s team. Within two years, he was the starting outside hitter for their men’s team (ranked 25th in the country at the time), was promoted to assistant coach for the women’s program, and was a regular on the outdoor courts. It was the outdoor game that really allowed Henryk to thrive, enjoying a 20 year Open level career with multiple tournament cashes, not to mention meeting his wife- who happens to have the most wins in Connecticut outdoor volleyball history!
Following his college coaching experience, Henryk was a coach at Bethel and Weston high schools, coached club for the CT Impact travel program and CT Juniors state program, and assisted as a volunteer coach at Newtown High School. With almost a quarter century of player and coach experience, Henryk joined NEVBC during the summer of 2020, appreciating what the program was doing for his own children in the girls and boys open programs. In his “real” life, Henryk owns ReConnect24, LLC, a science education content provider and curriculum design consultancy. Combining his passion for science, sports, and education, Henryk is able to specialize in body mechanics, mindset development, and higher level game strategy during his private lessons, clinics, and as one of our club coaches.
