bio

Coach Christian grew up peppering in the back yard with his mom, who was a D1 player, and first played on an organized team at age 12. Volleyball has taken him to all sorts of places; to play, coach, and spectate, building relationships all around the US and Europe. He was a four year starter at libero for Vassar College, earning all-conference honors each year and is still the program leader in Digs and Digs/Set. He continued his playing career in the UK while graduating top of his class from the University of East London MBA program, competing in the British University Championship Series and the UK Super League.

He started coaching youth clinics with East End Volleyball on Long Island in the 00s, has coached high school girls, club boys, women’s collegiate beach, and men’s collegiate indoor. In younger athletes, the goal has always been to inspire love of the game; with more developed competitors, to instill a winning mentality & critical mind for the game.

Age and exposure have not worn down Coach’s passion for the sport – he still plays pickup grass and beach as often as possible, and attends USAV Adult Nationals with the Vassar Alumn team when able. Christian is an Open beach player, winning doubles tournaments in New York and New Orleans in the past few years.
