Originally from Portsmouth, UK, Ryan enters his 4th season at Northeast with 15 years of coaching experience at all levels ranging from youth club programs to NCAA Divisions 1 and 3. Ryan has acted as a head and assistant coach for both girls and boys club teams, he specializes in film creation and analysis, and is a lead setter coach for at Northeast. Ryan is also one of three members of Northeast’s Recruiting Team, providing consultation and guidance for athletes navigating their college recruiting process.
Ryan moved to Connecticut from New Jersey where he was working as the Director of Volleyball Operations and Assistant Coach for both the men’s and women’s programs at St. Francis College of Brooklyn. He is currently the assistant coach at Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
Ryan studied Philosophy and Law at Montclair State University, and earned his MBA at Durham University in England, where he first met NEVBC Directors Cat, Garrett, Frog, and Kate. He went on to play professionally as a setter in England, Germany, the Slovak Republic, the US, and played two years as a member of the England Men’s National Team.
In addition to coaching, Ryan creates customized highlight films and assists athletes in the recruiting process for players looking to play in college or post-college. Off of the court, Ryan teaches music lessons and is a session musician who has co-written for various artists.
