Coach Matt brings a strong background in both education and volleyball coaching to NEVBC. A Trumbull native and 2015 graduate of Trumbull High School, Matthew continued playing volleyball recreationally and through intramurals in college and adulthood. He began coaching at Christian Heritage School in 2020, serving as the Middle School Head Coach through 2022 before becoming the JV Head Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach in 2023. During his time at Christian Heritage, Matthew helped build the middle school team into a strong foundation for the program and has been part of a varsity program that captured five consecutive HVAL titles and four NEPSAC Class D championships.
Matthew’s coaching philosophy centers on building strong relationships with athletes and creating a trusting team environment. He believes teams can maintain high expectations and standards while still keeping practices lighthearted, energetic, and fun. His favorite part of coaching is watching athletes he first worked with as beginners grow over the years into exceptional volleyball players and, more importantly, exceptional people.
Off the court, Matthew is entering his seventh year as a second-grade teacher at Christian Heritage School. In his free time, he enjoys reading, running, golfing, and playing the French horn. He is excited to bring his experience and enthusiasm to NEVBC and can’t wait to get started this season!
