bio

Originally from Reston, VA, Coach Harlan has a distinguished volleyball career marked by both individual success and coaching contributions. She played six years of club volleyball, most recently with Paramount Volleyball Club in Manassas, Virginia, where her team was ranked #75 in the nation. Harlan’s high school career included being a four-year varsity starter and earning 1st Team All-District and All-Region honors. Her impressive athletic journey continued at Fairfield University, where she was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team for the 2024-2025 season and finished in 5th place at the USAV 18 Open National Championship.

In addition to her playing experience, Harlan has a passion for coaching. She served as the Head Coach for her local middle school volleyball program and helped coach a group of boys who played a key role in launching a boys high school volleyball program in Virginia. Over the years, Harlan has also contributed to coaching camps and practices for athletes ranging from U11 to U17 during her club season and summer breaks. Her expertise in middle footwork, hitting approach techniques, and arm swings has become a cornerstone of her coaching style.

Outside of volleyball, Harlan is a university student with diverse interests, including art, Legos, true crime, and baking. Bilingual in Spanish, she brings a unique cultural perspective to her coaching. Harlan’s most rewarding coaching moment came when she witnessed one of her former players, who had initially known little about volleyball, progress to train with the Iranian National Volleyball Team over the summer. Now at Fairfield University, Harlan continues to expand her skills both as a player and a coach.
