Coach Mark (“Frog”) Ogilvie is one of the original staff members at Northeast Volleyball Club, having returned stateside to coach at NEVBC after five years abroad in the United Kingdom completing his PhD. While overseas, Coach Frog competed as a setter and libero for Team Durham Men’s Volleyball and served as an Assistant Coach for the Durham University Women’s Volleyball program, helping lead the team to four national championships. He also earned a Master’s degree in International & Intercultural Education and a PhD in Sociology, with a focus on Gender & Sports.
Upon his return to the U.S., Coach Frog joined the coaching staff at Wesleyan University (NCAA Division III), where he helped guide the team to an NCAA Elite 8 appearance in 2018. He previously played as a libero and setter for Michigan State Men’s Club Volleyball during his undergraduate years.
In addition to his collegiate and international coaching experience, Frog brings extensive youth coaching and educational expertise to NEVBC. He served as an assistant coach at Woodhaven High School (MI) in 2018 and was the Head Coach at Weston High School (CT) in 2020. He is now the Athletic Operations Coordinator and Volleyball Director at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, CT.
At NEVBC, Frog has coached across nearly every age group in both the girls and boys programs. He was the Head Coach for Boys U18 Open from 2018–2024, and on the girls side has coached Girls U12 (2018–2019), Girls U18 (2018–2019, 2023–2024), Girls U16 (2019–2023, 2024–present). In addition to team coaching, Frog also leads many of NEVBC’s clinics and camps, and currently serves as the Director of Summer Programming for the club.
Frog is also an accomplished educator and researcher. From 2020–2024, he served as an adjunct professor of Sociology at Southern Connecticut State University. He has been a featured presenter at the AVCA Men’s Convention (The Bic) in 2021,, co-presenting with Sam Shweisky on masculinity in volleyball, and has spoken on LGBTQIA+ inclusion in volleyball at the AVCA Women’s Convention every year since 2021. He has also presented at the NCAA AVCA Convention in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Currently, he is the Volleyball Director at St. Luke’s School.
